Our Culture
At PilotMM we’ve always retained a ‘collegial’ culture. Minimal politics, intellectually stimulating work, tolerance for personal idiosyncrasies, interdisciplinary approach towards problems solving, appreciation of different perspectives, and a healthy tolerance for ambiguity are defining characteristics of the organization.
We figured Dilbert was right after all. We decided not to write a formal and pretty vision, mission, goals and objectives statement.
This is what we hope PilotMM is defined by; This is what working at PillotMM is like;
- We don’t expect you to stop learning.
- 70% of your work will be your core job description, and the other 30% will be whatever just needs to be done.
- Personal ownership of your work output is expected.
- Seniors are expected to develop juniors.
- We care less about specific skills set and experience, and more about intelligence, curiosity, initiative and attitude.
- Moving forward and making mistakes is more acceptable, than sitting back and not making mistakes.
- If you join us, expect to get your hands dirty.
- We believe that the best ideas are borne out of a team of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds, that have learned to cooperate. ‘Multi-disciplinary collaboration’.
- We are flexible and we expect you to be flexible.
- Software architecture and software quality are very, very important.
- Real solutions frequently have an iterative process. Good output is about attacking the same problem over and over again.
- We may not agree with everyone, but we believe that everyone deserves ‘respect’.
- We may not agree with everything our customers say, but we better learn how to listen to them. Empathy is always a useful skill.
Let’s set expectations, we aren’t actually achieving all of the above just yet. |
